CHERP Faculty Honored with Awards for Teaching and Research, 11/12/2009

David Asch, MD, MBA, CHERP Co-Principal Investigator and the Robert D. Eilers Professor of Medicine and Health Care Management and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Wharton School, was presented with the 2009 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award by the Association American of Medical Colleges (AAMC) at their annual meeting on November 7. This national award recognizes the significant contributions to medical education made by gifted teachers.
Dr. Asch was acknowledged for his longstanding focus on inter-professional education and collaboration, as well as the “wit and wisdom he brings to classroom instruction.”
Peter Groeneveld, MD, MSc, CHERP Core Investigator and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and Joshua P. Metlay, MD, PhD, CHERP Associate Investigator and Associate Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Penn, received University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Awards of Excellence on November 2.
Dr. Groeneveld, a staff physician at PVAMC and a former VA HSR&D Career Development awardee, was recognized with the Marjorie A. Bowman New Investigator Award. Dr. Metlay received the Samuel Martin Health Evaluation Sciences Research Award.
